Swim Camp: The IU Natatorium is proud to provide an outstanding opportunity for competitive swimmers. Our Swim Camp focuses on body alignment, tone and posture as it applies to swimming as well as a healthy lifestyle. Dry land training works on core body strength, balance and reactionary drills and games. The water sessions focus on kinesthetic awareness, global stroke drills, surface & underwater analysis. Campers will utilize the Natatorium’s “Endless Pool” and each athlete will leave camp with an underwater video analysis of each of the four strokes utilizing Dartfish software. Full day campers also receive an underwater analysis of their turns and a detailed race analysis of the 50 meter freestyle.

Campers will work on the four competitive stokes each morning and the full day campers will work on starts and turns each afternoon.

The Staff: Leading the camp will be Ed Merkling, Competitive Program Manager of the IU Natatorium and head coach of the Indy Dolphins and Roncalli H.S. swim teams. Coach Merkling has coached all levels of club and high school swimmers. Additional coaches will include past and current collegiate athletes and high school coaches.

Equipment: Campers will need swimsuit, towel, goggles, water bottle, and dry land clothes.

It is recommended that all campers have participated on a competitive swim team for at least one season.
